KANO STATE POLICE ARREST CULPRITS IN HIGH-PROFILE HOMICIDE CASES

In a significant stride towards justice, the Kano State Police Command has successfully made two major arrests in separate and highly sensitive homicide case.


On December 20, 2023, at about 10:30 AM, a report was received from Nura Balarabe of Tofa LGA, Kano, alleging that Ukasha Muhammed, aged 19, impregnated his sister, Amina Bala, also 19, and conspired with Chidera Ugwu, aged 24, administering injections and drugs to cause miscarriage, resulting in Amina's tragic death. The suspects were apprehended and admitted to their involvement. Investigations revealed that Chidera Ugwu had been administering fatal injections to pregnant women, leading to dire consequences. The arrest of the quack doctor signifies a breakthrough in ongoing efforts to safeguard the lives of the State's residents.


In a separate incident, the Kano Police Command has detained Yusuf Haruna, alias Lagwatsani, aged 18, of Dala LGA, responsible for the senseless murder of a renowned Imam. On December 31, 2023, at around 7:30 PM, Yusuf Haruna attacked and stabbed Mallam Sani Mohammed Shuaibu, aged 45, while performing ablution, following a warning to cease smoking Indian hemp around the Mosque premises. The victim succumbed to his injuries, causing shock in the community. The diligent efforts of the police officers led to the identification and capture of the assailant.

Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, FIPMA, psc, assures the public of the Command's dedication to conducting thorough investigations in both cases. Additionally, the Command pledges to compile solid evidence to ensure the successful prosecution of the arrested individuals. The objective is not only to bring perpetrators to justice but also to serve as a deterrent to others contemplating such criminal actions.
