PLATEAU KILLINGS: UNIJOS MANAGEMENT ANNOUNCES DATE TO REOPEN VARSITY
The management of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) has announced its reopening for full academic activities on August 30.
This was announced in a statement by the University’s Registrar, Chief Monday Danjem.
The statement reads; “The management has assured that all measures have been taken to safeguard the lives and property of members of the University Community especially Staff and Students.
” Towards this end, security has been beefed up at the various campuses and Students hostels to forestall any breach.
“Giving an update of the security situation in the University, the Acting Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Gray Goziem Ejikeme called on all parents and guardians that the issue of security has been resolved and all security measures have been taken in other to protect the students and staff of the university of jos.
“Consequently, the Management of the University of Jos, after an emergency meeting with the Committee of Deans, Directors, and Provost on Monday, 23th August 2021, has approved the resumption of examinations for the Second Semester 2019/2020 academic session and all academic activities in the University will now continue as all ratification has been made by the Senate of the University”.
Recall that the institution was shut down following the killing of four students by hoodlums during a reprisal attack over the gruesome murder of 25 commuters at Rukuba Road, Jos North LGA of Plateau state.
This prompted the Ekiti and Ogun State Governments to evacuate dozens of their indigene students in the institution.
