ONDO STATE GOVERNMENT BANS LOGGING ACTIVITIES IN ITS FORESTS
The Ondo State Government has placed a ban on all logging activities in the State’s Forests, with the harvesting of bamboo materials as the only exception.
The State Government in a statement, yesterday, said it needed to make the legal move as a profilatic step to forestall insecurity and the propagation of the State's eco-system.
The State Government stated that bamboo harvesting is exempted from the embargo because it recognises the daily usage of bamboo materials in various homes across the State.
"Government is fully aware of the importance of this particular forest resource, especially to our investors who rely on it as a raw material in the production of some finished goods."
The Ondo State Government also stated that the clarification became necessary as a result of what it described as an "Endless enquiries in respect of the ban order as it concerns the product in question."
The Statement, sighted by Eons intelligence was signed by Donald Ojogo, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Ondo State.
