Police Arrest Cop-Killer, Dismantle Child-Trafficking Syndicate in Major Operations

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force has successfully arrested a notorious cop-killer and dismantled a child-trafficking syndicate as part of its ongoing efforts to improve national security through proactive, intelligence-driven strategies.

On November 1, 2024, operatives of the Federal Intelligence and Response Team (FID-IRT) arrested Ogaga Dickson, a 35-year-old member of an armed robbery syndicate responsible for the death of CSP Hassan Jega, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Agbarho Division in Delta State. CSP Jega was killed in a fierce gun battle with the gang on October 14, 2024, after he and his team foiled one of their robbery operations. The police had stormed the gang's den, engaging in a gunfight that led to the neutralization of four gang members. Following Ogaga's arrest, the police recovered a significant cache of weapons, including one AK-47 rifle, one English pistol, one locally made pistol, ammunition of various calibers, and six exotic vehicles.

In another significant operation, the police apprehended a child-trafficking syndicate led by Pastor Dayo Bernard, head of the End Time Army Ministry in Bukuru, Plateau State, on December 2, 2024. The operation led to the rescue of five children, aged between 2 and 4, who had been abducted from various homes in Jos, Plateau State. Other members of the syndicate were also arrested, including Rita Agboeze, Victoria Ugwu, Nanman Puntel, and Peter Ukwuani. During interrogation, Pastor Bernard confessed to abducting and selling 13 children at varying prices. All 13 children were recovered by the police and reunited with their families through the Plateau State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

Furthermore, in line with the Inspector General of Police's directive to mop up illicit arms and ammunition, the FID-IRT operatives successfully recovered 14 AK-47 rifles during their operations.


These operations underscore the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to combating crime and enhancing national security, reflecting the growing effectiveness of their efforts to tackle organized crime and violent incidents across the country.
