POLICE ARRESTS FIVE SUSPECTS FOR ATTEMPTING TO KIDNAP DOCTOR IN BAYELSA
The Bayelsa State Police has arrested five suspects for attempting to kidnap a medical doctor working at the Odi General Hospital, Kolokuma Local Government Area.
The arrested suspects were identified as; Sunny Ubaka, Inerepamo Ikati, Pereowei John, Osamedike Daniel, and Sambo Olawei.
The State’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday, September 17, 2020.
He revealed the arrest of the suspects followed credible intelligence that some kidnappers conspired to abduct the doctor at his quarters on Wednesday, September 10, 2020.
Asinim said that the doctor was not in his quarters when the kidnappers invaded the residence.
He said the Commissioner of Police, Mike Okoli, ordered the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to arrest the kidnappers.
According to the police spokesman, they all confessed to the crime, and investigation is ongoing.
Butswat urged residents of the State to report any suspicious acts to the police.
He assured them that the police would do all they can to reduce the level of criminality in the State.
