POLICE NEUTRALIZE AN ESCAPING SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER/ARMED ROBBER, RECOVER FIREARMS
The operatives of Delta State Police Command on 23rd June 2023 arrested one 58yr old suspected armed robber at about 0645hrs at a hideout along stadium road, Warri, Delta State.
Acting on a credible intelligence alert, the DPO 'A' Division Warri CSP T.Y Mahmud led the operatives of 'A' Division Warri and stormed the hideout of a criminal gang where a 58-year-old suspect was arrested.
Following his arrest, one AK-47 rifle and three magazines were recovered from him.
Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member and armourer of the dreaded "bobone" armed robbery gang terrorizing Warri and its environs.
He also gave the police additional information on the location of the other gang members and later led the Police to their hideout along Chevron Road.
Consequently, when the team was approaching the hideout, gang members engaged with the police in a gun duel. The suspect arrested also attempted to escape, but he was fatally maimed on his leg, thereby preventing his escape. His gang members escaped with gunshot injuries.
The suspect was taken to the hospital but died while receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, the operatives have launched a manhunt for the other gang members.
