TRAGEDY AVERTED AS LAGOS FIRE SERVICE SAVES OKO BABA RESIDENTS FROM EARLY MORNING FIRE
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service on Thursday saved residents of Oko Baba from an early morning inferno that gutted the Oko Baba Sawmill in the Ebutte Metta area of the state.
Eons Intelligence gathered that at about 2.30 am on Thursday, firefighters and men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA, responded to a distress call stating that the market spanning over hectares of Land was on fire.
An emergency team was promptly deployed with three Fire Engines to combat the situation. The men also cordoned off the area to prevent recording casualties and prevented the fire from extending to adjoining shanties and residential areas.
Various equipment used for cutting, filling & finishing woods & planks, as well as stock such as wood polish, were lost to the fire which was eventually put out at about 8 am, according to Mrs Margaret Adeseye, the Acting Controller, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
Mrs Adeseye further disclosed that investigations have commenced to unravel the cause of the fire.
