Troops Bust Kidnap Syndicate, Recover AK-47 Rifles in Borno Crackdown

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have recorded another operational success in the ongoing campaign against terrorism and violent crime, arresting five suspected kidnappers and recovering firearms during an intelligence-led operation in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.

According to the military, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence on the activities of criminal elements operating along a notorious corridor within the area. Troops subsequently launched a coordinated raid which led to the apprehension of five suspected members of a kidnapping network believed to be responsible for a series of attacks and abductions targeting residents.

Security forces also recovered two AK-47 rifles, magazines, and ammunition during the operation, significantly degrading the group's capability to carry out further criminal activities.

Preliminary findings indicate that the suspects are allegedly connected to kidnapping and other violent crimes across parts of Borno State. The suspects are currently in military custody and are assisting investigators in efforts to track down other members of the syndicate and dismantle its support structure.

The military said the successful operation underscores the sustained offensive posture of Operation HADIN KAI against terrorists, kidnappers, and other criminal elements threatening peace and security in the North-East.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and pledged to sustain ongoing operations aimed at restoring lasting peace and stability across the country.
