Troops Foil Insurgents’ Supply Mission in Kogi, Neutralize Courier and Seize Weapons

Troops of the 12 Brigade, Operation MESA, in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) Hybrid Force, have intercepted and disrupted an insurgent logistics supply mission in Kogi State.

The operation, which took place in the early hours of Friday, 5 September 2025, was based on credible intelligence. At about 1:00 a.m., the troops staged an ambush along the Agbede–Adankolo Bridge axis, popularly known as Mosalanci Boka, in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area — a route identified as a notorious supply corridor for violent extremists.

During the encounter, the troops neutralized an insurgent logistics courier and recovered key items, including one AK-47 magazine loaded with 20 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a motorcycle used for transportation, and two mobile phones suspected to contain vital information about insurgent networks.

Military authorities confirmed that the successful ambush not only disrupted a critical supply chain of the insurgents but also weakened their ability to sustain operations in the area. The recovered mobile phones are expected to enhance ongoing intelligence operations aimed at tracking other members of the terror group.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to sustaining relentless pressure on criminal elements threatening peace and stability in Kogi State and across the country.
