
Troops Foil Terrorist Attack in Izge, Neutralize Several Insurgents
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI successfully repelled a coordinated terrorist attack on their position in Izge, Borno State, in the early hours of Tuesday, May 7, 2025, neutralizing several insurgents and capturing key combat equipment.
According to military sources, the assault began in the early morning but was swiftly countered by the troops, who held their ground in a firefight that lasted for hours. The soldiers’ firm resistance forced the attackers to retreat in disarray.
During the counter-offensive operation, over seven terrorists were confirmed neutralized, while troops captured several critical enablers including one motorcycle, 10 bicycles, and a PKT automatic machine gun with ammunition belts.
A separate attempted attack on Mallamfatori was also reportedly foiled, resulting in further losses for the terrorist elements.
Commending the troops for their bravery, the Commander of Operation HADIN KAI urged continued efforts to rid the region of terrorist threats. The operation underscores the military's ongoing commitment to denying insurgents freedom of action and restoring peace across the North-East.
