
Troops of 22 Armoured Brigade Arrest 8 Kidnap Suspects, Rescue Victims in Kwara Operation
In a decisive move to combat criminal activities and enhance public safety in Kwara State, troops of the 22 Armoured Brigade, operating from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Patigi, have successfully carried out a coordinated raid on a suspected kidnappers’ hideout.
The operation, which took place on Saturday, 21 June 2025, was based on credible intelligence that pinpointed the kidnappers’ enclave on the outskirts of Latandaji Village in Patigi Local Government Area.
According to military sources, the troops encountered mild resistance during the mission but quickly subdued the criminals with superior firepower. The raid led to the rescue of two kidnap victims, identified as Mr. Amos Moses and Mr. Philip Michael. Additionally, eight suspected kidnappers were apprehended during the operation.
One individual, identified as Mr. Mohammed Mohammed, sustained gunshot wounds during the exchange of fire. He was immediately evacuated to Bachita Teaching Hospital for medical treatment.
A search of the area resulted in the recovery of two motorcycles and two expended cartridge shells, believed to have been used by the suspects. The arrested individuals are currently in military custody and undergoing preliminary investigation. They will be handed over to appropriate authorities for prosecution.
The Nigerian Army has reiterated its commitment to ridding communities of criminal elements and restoring peace and security across the country. It also called on the public to continue providing actionable intelligence to security agencies to support ongoing operations.
The operation underscores the Army’s resolve to dismantle kidnapping networks and safeguard lives and property in all areas of deployment.
