TROOPS RECORDS MORE VICTORIES IN SUSTAINED ONSLAUGHT AGAINST BHT/ISWAP TERRORISTS

The Nigeria military, in collaboration with other security agencies, has recorded more victories against BHT/ISWAP terrorists as more Boko Haram insurgents were killed during its clearance operations in the North East.

 

On June 3, troops of Army Super Camp 6 Konduga in Borno State in collaboration with the State Civilian Joint Task Force launched a deliberate ambush operation against terrorists at Lawani River line, killing 6 and injuring several others, the Coordinator of Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche said in a statement on Thursday.

Major General Enenche noted that more terrorists are surrendering to troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE following continuous artillery bombardments and ground assaults on BH/ISWAP hideouts.

According to the military spokesman, on Tuesday, June 2, three more Boko Haram troops surrendered to troops of Delta Company at Strong Response Area Pulka in Gwoza LGA of Borno State. They are Mohammed Babagana, Modu Jugudun and Alhaji Usman.


According to him, the trio confessed to having escaped from their Boko Haram Camp in Dabulari Village, Bama LGA of Borno State after many of their colleagues were killed by military bombardment. 


Major Enenche said the surrendered Boko Haram members regretted their actions and urged their former colleagues to drop arms and surrender too.

The military spokesman also revealed that one Soldier paid the supreme price and another was injured on June 2 when combined troops of 19 Brigade and 401 Special Forces Brigade conducted a robust clearance operation at Doron Naira and Magaji.


He said the Troops killed 9 of Boko Haram Terrorists in Doran Naira destroyed one Boko Haram Gun Truck and recovered one 120mm Mortar base plate, one religious book, metal links for-Aircraft ammunition, a roll of copper wire abandoned by the Boko Haram criminals, one Anti-Aircraft Gun, 2 AK 47 Rifles, and a large cache of Anti-Aircraft ammunition.



He also said that on June 1, troops of 144 Battalion deployed in Madagali, Adamawa State briskly cleared BHT Staging Area and Crossing Points at Lemu, Gajinji and Tsakiraku.

During the encounter at Gajinji, troops neutralized one terrorist and arrested 2 adult females namely: Aishatu Manye and Kelune Mate identified to be the local BHT commander’s wives.


In the North West Region, on June 3 2020, troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH acting on credible information raided a bandits’ Camp at Kurmin Dande in Chikun LGA of Kaduna State. During the operation, troops made contact and neutralized 2 of the bandits while others escaped with gunshot wounds. The troops recovered 2 Dane guns, 2 motorcycles, one locally fabricated short gun, 4 cutlasses, 3 cell phones, 2 small solar panels and some clothing items before destroying their camp.
