Troops Recover Arms, Rescue Minor in Plateau State Operations
Troops of 3 Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN have recorded significant successes in ongoing counter-banditry operations in Plateau State.
Acting on credible intelligence of armed bandits sighted along the Kampani–Kombodoro road in Wase Local Government Area, troops laid an ambush near Jeb community. In the early hours of July 24, 2025, they engaged the criminals in a firefight, forcing them to flee. During a follow-up operation, troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and five rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition abandoned by the fleeing bandits. Efforts to track and apprehend the suspects are ongoing.
In a separate development on July 22, troops rescued a 12-year-old boy during raid operations in the Riyom general area. Preliminary investigation revealed that the minor had been sold three years ago by his uncle, who is currently at large. The boy has since been handed over to the Councillor representing Zamko Ward in Langtang North LGA for onward reunification with his family.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to decisive action against all criminal elements undermining peace and security in the region.
