Troops Repel Armed Attack in Sokoto, One Soldier Killed, Others Injured
Operatives of the Nigerian Army troops under Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) came under a surprise attack by suspected militants near Gidan Rana, along a key supply route linking Isa and Gudumi in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
While patrolling the area, the troops faced intense gunfire but managed to repel the attackers. The exact number of casualties on the opposing side is yet to be confirmed.
Sadly, one soldier was killed, five others were injured, and one remains missing. A military technical vehicle was also destroyed in the ambush. The injured personnel were promptly taken to Isa General Hospital, where they are receiving medical care.
A rapid follow-up mission was launched to locate the missing soldier, although specific details are limited as the investigation continues.
This latest assault highlights the ongoing security challenges in Sokoto and across parts of Northwest and North-Central Nigeria, where authorities and residents face growing difficulties in maintaining peace and safety.
