Troops Repel Bandit Raid in Kaduna, Kill One Terrorist and Recover Arms, Livestock

Troops of 1 Division/Sector 1, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled a bandit attack in Kaduna State, neutralising one suspected terrorist and recovering weapons and rustled livestock during a coordinated counter-operation.

The operation followed a distress call received late on January 22, 2026, reporting that armed bandits had attacked Anguwan Fulan village in the Rido general area and rustled livestock. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, troops moved into the Maraban Rido axis and laid a hasty ambush.

On arrival, the troops made contact with the fleeing bandits and engaged them with superior firepower, forcing the criminals to retreat in disarray with suspected gunshot injuries. The troops subsequently carried out aggressive exploitation of surrounding forested areas, including the Kankomi Forest, where further contact was made at a suspected crossing point near Anguwan Sarki.

During the encounter, the terrorists were again overwhelmed and compelled to abandon their loot before fleeing, leading to the recovery of some of the rustled livestock. Continued exploitation of the area in the early hours of January 23, 2026, resulted in the neutralisation of one terrorist.

Items recovered during the operation include two AK-47 rifles, four magazines, and fifteen rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

Commending the troops, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Commander, Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed Wase, praised their bravery and professionalism. He urged them to sustain the momentum of ongoing operations to deny criminals freedom of movement within the area.

The Nigerian Army reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, while calling on the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
