TROOPS RESCUE OFFICER ABDUCTED AT NIGERIAN DEFENCE ACADEMY MAJOR CL DATONG
The Nigerian Army in conjunction with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and other security operatives have rescued Major CL Datong who was abducted at Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Permanent Site on August 24, 2021.
The victim was rescued following the directive of the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs to conduct major operations in ensuring Major Datong was rescued as well as find the perpetrators dead or alive.
Security agents from the Air Task Force, Department of State Services and other security agencies, immediately swung into action by conducting operations in the Afaka general area to find and rescue the officer. The operations were being conducted based on several leads received from various sources regarding the abductors and likely locations the officer was being held.
During the operation, several Bandits' camp in the Afaka- Birnin Gwari general area were destroyed and several criminals killed.
Upon arrival at the bandits' camp where Maj. Datong was held captive, security operatives engaged the criminals in a gun battle and overpowered them, thus rescuing the abducted officer.
The officer however sustained a minor injury but has received treatment at a medical facility and handed over to NDA for further action.
