IPOB Celebrates 4th Anniversary of Eastern Security Network, Commends Operatives for Bravery and Sacrifices
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have commemorated the fourth anniversary of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), praising its operatives for their unwavering dedication, bravery, and sacrifices in protecting Biafra land.
In a statement signed by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, the group expressed deep appreciation for the ESN’s efforts in combating terrorism, safeguarding farmlands, and maintaining security in the southeastern region of Nigeria.
The statement recalled that ESN was founded on December 12, 2020, by IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in response to rising security threats, particularly those allegedly posed by Fulani herdsmen. IPOB asserted that the presence of ESN has played a crucial role in reducing attacks, killings, and farm invasions across the region.
The group commended ESN operatives for their resilience despite operating under difficult conditions, including living in remote areas and facing life-threatening confrontations. IPOB also paid special tribute to operatives who lost their lives in the line of duty, stating that their “warrior spirit” continues to fuel the fight for Biafra’s freedom.
The statement further urged Biafrans, both at home and in the diaspora, to continue offering financial and moral support to ESN. IPOB emphasized that ESN operates under a strict ethical code, ensuring that its members remain focused on their mission without engaging in criminal activities.
"Any ESN operative found violating the code of conduct will face severe consequences," the group warned.
Additionally, IPOB issued a stern caution to local vigilante groups and individuals allegedly collaborating with security agencies to target its members. The group reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on land acquisitions involving Fulani herdsmen and warned of serious repercussions for those aiding kidnappings and killings in the region.
IPOB also reiterated its call for the unconditional release of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and other detained members, describing their continued imprisonment as unjust.
"Self-determination is not a crime under any law in the world. IPOB shall never retreat nor surrender until Biafrans are granted the right to vote in a referendum or lawfully exit Nigeria," the statement declared.
The group concluded by calling for unity, vigilance, and sustained support for the ESN, as they continue to navigate future security challenges in their pursuit of Biafra’s sovereignty.
