NDA COMMANDANT DESCRIBES NYSC DG AS SOURCE OF PRIDE TO NIGERIA ARMED FORCES
The Commandant of Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna, Major General IM Yusuf, has commended the NYSC Director-General, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim for his enviable feats in the scheme in a short time.
This commendation was made on Monday, when he played host to the NYSC DG, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the NDA, Kaduna.
He described Ibrahim as a source of pride to the Nigerian Armed Forces. He said his reforms and achievements in NYSC were consistent with the qualities of hard work, dedication, selflessness and dynamism, which he demonstrated in his previous appointments, which qualified him for the post in the first place.
He said Ibrahim's time at the NDA as Head of History and War Studies Department as well as TETFUND Desk Officer were equally marked with massive and commendable reforms. He said Ibrahim played a leading role in securing accreditation for courses of the History and War Studies Department at the NDA.
"It was to his credit that NDA hosted a conference of the Historical Society of Nigeria for the first time," he added.
He said his achievements in NYSC did not come as a surprise to those, like himself who are conversant with the work and professional ethics of Mr Ibrahim. The Commandant also congratulated Ibrahim on his promotion to the rank of Major General, recently.
He said it was a well deserved promotion that could not have come at a better time. He said the Academy would continue to support the Scheme, especially in the area of Corps Welfare.
The DG thanked the Commandant for the mentorship he enjoyed under him. He said Major General Yusuf is a personification of a thoroughbred senior officer. He appreciated the support NDA has been giving the NYSC. He also noted that NDA is one of the largest Corps employers in the Country.
He thanked the Commandant for prioritising the welfare of Corps members, especially in the provision of accommodation and feeding while in transit. The Director-General also commended Corps Members serving at the Nigerian Defence Academy for being good ambassadors of the Scheme.
He advised them to be security-conscious and avoid night travels. He also enjoined them to use the social media only for the promotion of national unity and development as against hatred and ethnic jingoism. He advised them to develop vocational and entrepreneurship skills and pursue their dreams with passion.
