Troops Rescue Two Kidnap Victims During Operation Savannah Shield Patrol in Kwara

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North Central), operating under Operation Savannah Shield, have rescued two kidnap victims during a security operation in Kwara State.


The rescue was carried out on June 3, 2026, when troops deployed at Patrol Base Babasango embarked on a fighting patrol to Gidan Dogo Ekaa. During the operation, the soldiers encountered two civilians who had reportedly escaped from the custody of their abductors.

The victims, identified as 42-year-old Temitope Samuel and 40-year-old Mohammed Sani, were immediately taken into protective custody and evacuated to Patrol Base Babanla.


Military authorities disclosed that both men are currently receiving medical attention, psychological support, and other necessary care while arrangements are being made to reunite them with their families.


The operation forms part of ongoing security efforts aimed at combating kidnapping and other criminal activities across the North-Central region.


The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property through sustained intelligence-driven operations and urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to support ongoing security efforts.


Military authorities also commended the troops involved in the operation for their professionalism and swift response, which contributed to the successful rescue of the victims.
