Troops Storm Suspected IPOB Camp in Enugu Forest, Destroy Hideout and Recover Explosives

Joint military forces under Operation UDO KA have dismantled a suspected IPOB hideout in Ajali Forest, located in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State, following an intelligence-led raid.

Report indicates that the operation was executed in the early hours of April 27, around 4:30 a.m., by troops of 82 Division Garrison, alongside personnel from the 103 Battalion (Reinforced) and 197 Special Forces Battalion.

During the mission, troops reportedly encountered armed elements within the enclave and engaged them in a gun battle, forcing the suspects to retreat deeper into the forest.

Following the exchange, security forces carried out a thorough sweep of the area, destroying all identified structures within the camp, including a shrine believed to be linked to the group’s activities.

Recovered items from the scene included three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, three cartridges, seven victim-operated improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and a locally fabricated hand grenade.

No additional contact was made during the clearance phase, while troops have since maintained a strong presence in the area to prevent the return or regrouping of fleeing suspects.
