Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have expressed their full support for Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, in his efforts to restore law and order and safeguard the lives and property of citizens in the state.

Under the PDP Governors’ Forum (PDPGF), the governors voiced their deep concern over the recent political violence in Osun State, which resulted in loss of lives and destruction of property.

This was stated in a press release signed by the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, in Abuja on Thursday.

Condemning Political Violence

Governor Mohammed highlighted that Governor Adeleke had earlier warned about the potential breakdown of law and order and had called on relevant authorities to intervene before the situation escalated.

“The PDPGF strongly condemns the resort to self-help by political actors whose actions should be guided by the rule of law in a democratic society,” Mohammed stated.

The Forum further denounced the use of violence as a means of settling political and legal disputes, warning all instigators to desist immediately.

“We commend Governor Adeleke for his timely warning and leadership in addressing this crisis before it escalated. His proactive stance reflects exemplary governance,” the statement read.

Call for Federal Intervention

The PDP Governors urged President Bola Tinubu, alongside security agencies such as the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Inspector General of Police, and other law enforcement heads, to take swift action in containing the situation and restoring peace before it spirals further out of control.

The Forum emphasized that political leadership should be about service and sacrifice for the people, not violence and bloodshed.

“There should be no partisan divide or ideological conflict when it comes to protecting lives and property. Every political leader should prioritize the safety, welfare, and protection of citizens.”

Call for Justice

The PDPGF reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a full return to normalcy in Osun State and urged security agencies to identify, arrest, and prosecute those responsible for inciting and perpetrating violence.

“The PDPGF looks forward to the swift restoration of peace and security in Osun State and the prosecution of all individuals involved in this unfortunate disruption of public order,” the statement concluded.
