20 DIE, 26 INJURED IN GUNMEN ATTACK
Residents of Faskari Local Government Area (LGA) are in distress as unknown gunmen invaded their community and killed 20 persons, leaving 26 others injured, according to the State’s Police Force.
The attack took place on Tuesday in five communities - Kadisau, Kabalawa, Kwakware, Unguwar Wahabi, and Raudama.
Sources say the gunmen attacked the communities when the residents were about to observe the Muslims’ evening prayers.
Isah Gambo, spokesperson of the Katsina State police command, confirmed the incident.
The Police spokesperson said the gunmen were about 200 in number.
Gambo revealed some group of youths confronted the gunmen who came specifically to steal food items and other materials from the villagers. Unfortunately, the gunmen opened fire on them.
“As of yesterday (Tuesday), 14 were reportedly killed while 26 taken and admitted in the hospital. And this morning (Wednesday), when I spoke with the Area commander of the Funtua Area Command, he told me that four more victims died in the hospital, making the number of fatalities rise to 18,” the police spokesperson said.
