3 COVID-19 PATIENTS ON THE RUN IN KANO
Three patients who tested positive for Covid-19 in Kano state are on the run.
The patients reportedly fled immediately they got news of their COVID-19 status.
The state coordinator of technical response team on COVID-19, Tijjani Hussaini, said the patients switched off their phones and fled their homes.
The Covid-19 taskforce is currently working with security agencies to trace the patients and move them to an isolation center.
"We have informed the security agencies about the development to launch manhunt on the persons," he said.
The Kano State Governor, Umar Ganduje, is investigating the sudden rise of deaths in the state. He said autopsies are being carried out to discover the cause of the unusual number of deaths in the state.
The governor revealed this on Monday through a tweet on his official twitter handle.
Ganduje said, "Over the past week, there have been reports of mysterious deaths in our great Kano State, and I'm here to assure everyone that investigations are already ongoing. Autopsies are still being carried out, but so far, there's been nothing to suggest that they are linked with COVID-19."
The Kano State Ministry of Health today announced two new coronavirus deaths, which bring the total number of recorded fatalities in the state to 3.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, kano has recorded 77 cases of COVID-19 and 3 deaths.
