5 SUSPECTED ILLEGAL OIL DEALERS ARRESTED, VESSEL SEIZED IN LAGOS
A Vessel named MV Kamsi and five crew members, arrested by men of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft, Apapa, Lagos for illegal dealing in petroleum product have been handed over to the State Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The suspects namely: Ugochukwu Obasi, Christian Nwaigwe, Ekundayo Segun, Kadiri Jimoh and Olamide Koledoye were extradited on Wednesday, 27th January 2021 to the anti-graft agency for further investigation and possible prosecution.

According to the Navy, the vessel and its crew members were arrested around South West off Lagos Fairway Buoy for illegally being in possession of about 120,000 litres of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).
In a statement by Wilson Uwujaren, Head of Madua and publicity, (EFCC), the suspects and vessel will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
The Nigeria Navy has been working tirelessly to put an end to sea related crimes such as piracy, oil theft and illegal oil dealings.
On 20th October 2020 operatives of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft, Apapa, Lagos arrested over 10 suspected oil thieves and a vessel laden with 130 metric tons of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and later handed them over to EFCC for further investigation and prosecution.
Also on 18th May 2020, the Nigerian Navy arrested five suspended oil thieves and seized a vessel which contained unspecified quality of illegally refined automated gas oil in Akwa Ibom State.
