6 Brigade troops record major success in Taraba, clear bandits’ stronghold in ongoing operation
Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army / Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have recorded another operational success under the ongoing Operation Lafiya Nakowa, with the destruction of a major bandits’ camp in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The operation, aimed at flushing out bandits and terrorist elements from their hideouts across the state, was carried out on Friday, 31 October 2025, following credible intelligence on the movement and activities of criminal groups around Unom, Yongogba, Tornyi, and Mbayongo villages in Takum LGA.
According to military reports, troops conducted a clearance patrol through Tor-Tser, Kofar Ahmadu, Tornyi, Unom, Mbayongo, and Yongogba villages, successfully clearing the areas, including adjoining settlements and river lines.
During the operation, troops received fresh intelligence at Kofar Ahmadu village about the presence of bandits near TY Farm in Tati. The soldiers swiftly redirected their combat patrol toward the area through Sabon Gida Tati, where they made contact with the criminals. Outgunned by the troops’ superior firepower, the bandits fled deep into the forest.
Upon further search, the troops discovered and destroyed a major bandits’ camp located within the TY Farm area, effectively denying the criminals a safe haven. One Dane gun and other items were recovered from the site.
The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their gallantry, quick response, and professionalism throughout the mission. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to ensuring lasting peace and stability across Taraba State and urged residents to continue providing credible and timely information to support ongoing security operations.
