AIRTEL CEO, SEGUN OGUNSANYA NAMED AFRICA INDUSTRY PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR

Segun Ogunsanya, MD/CEO of Airtel Nigeria, has been named the Industry Personality of Year 2020 by the African Leadership Magazine.


The Airtel CEO received the award at a glamorous virtual ceremony which held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020.


The ceremony was attended by notable figures across the African continent including; Mele Kyari, MD NNPC Group; Ernest Bai, Former Sierra Leone President; John Rwamgimbwa, Governor, National Bank of Rwanda; Ahmed Shide, Minister of Finance, Ehiopia; and Lee Kinyanjui, Nakuru County Governor, Kenya.


The Industry Personality of the Year award recognises personalities whose inventions and visions have catalyzed the growth of particular industry sectors and have permanently influenced the business style and model in that particular sector.


Ogunsanya prevailed after a three-step points-based selection process that included a call for nomination, an online voting for shortlisted nominees, the editorial board's final review of the nominations, and submission of votes.


Other contenders for this landmark award were Joao Figueiredo, CEO, Moza Banco, Mozambique, who emerged second, and Paul Gbededo, MD/CEO, Flour Mills of Nigeria.


Segun Ogunsanya, who dedicated the award to Airtel Nigeria customers, expressed immense gratitude to his colleagues for their unflinching support.


The Airtel CEO and other winners of the African Business Leadership Awards 2020 were also formally decorated with instruments of honour at the virtual ceremony.
