Army Rescues 5, Arrests Suspect, Recovers Arms in Nationwide Operations

Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued five kidnapped victims, arrested a suspected extremist, and recovered arms in separate operations across Katsina, Edo, and Niger States on August 30, 2025.


In Katsina State, a Strike Team from 8 Division ambushed terrorists at Yarkasuwa, Malumfashi LGA, rescuing three victims and recovering an AK-47 magazine with 27 rounds of ammunition. Similarly, troops of 17 Brigade responded to a distress call at Malumfashi–Kafur Road, freeing two victims after forcing terrorists to flee, and recovering a motorcycle.


In Edo State, troops of 4 Brigade under Operation WABAIZIGAN foiled a robbery along Ologbo–Sapele Road, Ikpoba-Okha LGA, recovering a stolen vehicle, three locally fabricated guns, and cartridges.


Also, in Niger State, troops of 22 Brigade at FOB Babanna arrested a suspected extremist linked to insurgent activities during a transit operation.


The Army said the operations reflect its resolve to deny criminals freedom of action and restore peace across the country.
