Bandit Leaders Surrender Arms and Hostages in Katsina State.

Two notorious bandit leaders, Abu Radde and Umar Black, operating in Batsari and Safana Local Government Areas of Katsina State, have surrendered their arms and hostages following intensified military operations by the combined forces of Operation FASAN YANMA.

The surrender, which took place on January 19, 2025, in Batsari, marks a significant step in the fight against banditry and insecurity in the region. Military representatives and other key stakeholders were present to oversee the process and ensure transparency.

During the event, the bandits handed over four AK-47 rifles and released 15 captives, comprising three men, eight women, and four children. Authorities have clarified that the surrender was not a negotiation or peace agreement but a crucial move towards the complete disarmament of the armed groups and the release of all kidnapped victims.

The surrendered weapons, confirmed to be in good condition, have been secured by the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, while the rescued hostages have been handed over to the Local Government Authorities for rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
