POLICE RESCUE KIDNAPPED OGUN JOURNALIST IN LAGOS STATE

The operatives of the Ogun State Police Command rescued a journalist, Oduneye Olusegun, on 11th March 2023 after he was abducted on 9th March 2023 by some gunmen in the Mobalufon area, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.


The information available indicates that the victim was returning from Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital when he was attacked in his Toyota Camry car and kidnapped at about 1950hrs.


Upon his abduction, his abductors later put a call through to his wife the following morning and demanded N30 million as ransom. The alarming incident was quickly reported to the police.

However, the Commissioner of Police, CP Frank Mba instructed the DPO Obalende divisional headquarters, SP Murphy Salami, whose jurisdiction the incident happened to ensure the safe rescue of the victim. The operative's detectives tactically plotted their intelligence investigation and swung into rescue action immediately.


The detectives' efforts paid off as they traced the victim's Toyota Camry to the Idimu area of Lagos, where the kidnappers were holed up waiting for the ransom. On sighting the policemen, the kidnappers engaged them in a gun duel which lasted for about 45 minutes before they abandoned the car and fled after sustaining varying degrees of gunshot injuries. 


Meanwhile, The victim was rescued unhurt, as his car seats were stained with the kidnappers' blood.
