BREAKING: GRIDLOCK AS FUEL TANKER EXPLODES AT MAGBORO ON LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY

A petrol-laden tanker on Wednesday, December 2, was gutted by fire at the Magboro section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.


The incident which occurred around 4:15 am has caused serious gridlock on the highway.



Eons Intelligence gathered that firefighters have arrived at the scene to put out the fire.

It is also learnt that the fuel being conveyed by the tanker had spilled to the side of the highway leading inwards Lagos.



This is coming barely 25 days after a petrol-laden tanker went up in flames on Kara Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The incident which occurred on November 7 claimed about two lives, while 29 vehicles were burnt.


It was however not clear if there were casualties in the latest inferno which officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), police and firefighters have been battling to contain.


Responding to this, the Corridor Commander of Lagos-Ibadan-Egbeda, FRSC, DCC Kehinde G Hamzat, urged road users to adequately plan their trips and make use of alternative routes.


He added that relentless efforts are still being made to extinguish the fire by men of Fire Service backed up by men of other agencies around the scene of inferno.
