BUHARI FLAGS-OFF CONSTRUCTION OF THE 614KM AJAOKUTA-KADUNA-KANO PIPELINE PROJECT (VIDEO)

 

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, flagged-off the construction of the 614km Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline Project.




Bashir Ahmad, personal assistant to the President made this known in a tweet on Tuesday, June 30, 2020.


The president participated in the flag-off ceremony virtually from Abuja.



On behalf of President, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State joined by NNPC Mele Kyari, Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), officially flagged-off the construction of the project in Ajaokuta.

Dr Kennie Obateru, NNPC group general manager, group public affairs division noted that the project, estimated for $2.8bn, is expected to be completed within a 24-month timeline.



The gas pipeline would originate from Ajaokuta, in Kogi State and traverse Abuja (FCT), Niger, Kaduna, and end at Kano, he said. 



Amongst stakeholders at the virtual meeting were: Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Governor of Kano State, Nigerian businessman and Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Abdul Samad Rabiu of BUA Group, and others.
