COVID-19 LOCKDOWN: SHOPS LOOTED IN CAPE TOWN DURING A FOOD PROTEST (VIDEO)

Shops were looted during a protest for food in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town yesterday, 14th April 2020. This was occasioned by the lockdown order in South Africa.


Not lesser than 1000 residents participated in the protest.




Reports from some of the residents state that, People will go the extreme to get food to eat, " survival Instincts".


Another source cried out to bash the government for empty promises. Related the occurrence to the lackadaisical act the government of the country has put into managing the situation.


"Our people are not used to this, common what does everyone expect. A lot of people can get by for months and some hustle daily to feed their families. We all know this will happen. Just another empty promise from the government"


A source said, companies owned by South Africans will experience insecurity during the hard time.


However, some of the residents condemned the act. Says, the lockdown order is an insightful step and measure taken by the Government to curtail the spread of Coronavirus pandemic


" But people do not really know that the lockdown is to our benefit. COVID-19 is real and I see disaster looming. If they are to lift the lockdown we are going to pay the price. It is sad people are so short sighted..... Sad"
