Delta Police Arrest Kidnap and Robbery Syndicate, Nab Cult Members; Recover Guns, Ammunition and Stolen Property
The Delta State Police Command has announced the arrest of suspected kidnappers, armed robbers, and cultists in two major operations across the state, leading to the recovery of firearms, ammunition, stolen electronics, and a vehicle allegedly used for criminal activities.
Kidnap/Robbery Syndicate Arrested
On 23 November 2025, operatives of the Eagle Net Special Squad, led by SP Danyaya Inusa, acted on a distress call about an armed robbery incident along the Asaba–Benin Expressway. In a joint operation with the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service, the team engaged a criminal gang in a gun duel before overpowering the suspects.
Three suspects — Oghenemaro Martins (25), Tarebi Miracle Ogbada (22), and Okorie James Kalu (19) — were arrested after a chase. A black bag abandoned during the pursuit was recovered, containing:
One English-made Beretta pistol
One locally made pistol
Four live 9mm Beretta ammunition
One HP laptop
Three mobile phones
One PS5 console
Jewellery and other items stolen from victims in previous attacks
According to the police, the recovered items link the suspects to multiple armed robberies in the Okpanam–Asaba area.
Cultists Arrested, Weapons Seized
In a separate operation on 24 November 2025, officers of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, arrested three suspected members of the Aye Confraternity in Sapele and Oghara.
The suspects — Miracle Umukoro (52), Mudiaga Ukavwe (31), and Solomon Oghoro (30) — were arrested during an intelligence-driven raid. Recovered exhibits include:
One pump-action gun
Six live cartridges
One cutlass
One Toyota Sienna (Reg. LSR 621 JW) allegedly used for operations
All suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
CP Commends Operatives
Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda praised the officers for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to eliminating armed robbery, kidnapping, and cult-related violence across the state.
