DELTA STATE POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS LINKED TO WAREHOUSE, CHURCH ROBBERY

In response to recent armed robbery incidents, the Commissioner of Police for Delta State, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, directed swift action leading to significant arrests. Following a robbery at Western Delta University Oghara on June 20, 2024, the case was assigned to DPO Ekpan Division CSP Aliyu Shaba for a thorough investigation.

Acting on intelligence, on June 24, 2024, at approximately 18:30hrs, police operatives apprehended Okoro Udochukwu (36) and Sunday Dickson (32) at a hotel in Aziza Junction Sapele Road. The suspects, hailing from the Ore II Community, were identified as key members of a notorious six-man gang operating across Warri, Sapele, Oghara, and other parts of Delta State. Their criminal activities primarily targeted churches, companies, and warehouses, often utilizing firearms.

Preliminary investigations revealed their involvement in the May 26, 2024 robbery of a warehouse in Warri, where they allegedly stole one hundred and twelve bags of rice, some of which had already been sold. The subsequent arrest of Arinze Ezisi (44) and Titus Chinedu (47) from the Okumaga community led to the recovery of stolen items, including appliances, electronics, musical instruments, and other valuables.

The recovered items included thirty-eight bags of rice, various electronics such as TVs, air conditioners, and sound systems, alongside tools and other equipment used in their operations. The gang operated using two Sienna vehicles and a shuttle bus for the transportation of stolen goods.

Efforts are currently underway to apprehend the remaining members of the gang and recover their operational vehicles. The Delta State Police assured continued efforts to combat crime and ensure the safety of residents across the state.
