EFCC ARRAIGNS EDUCATION SECRETARY FOR FRAUD IN SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAMME
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Ishaka Abdullahi, Education Secretary of Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, before a high court in the State.
The Education Secretary was arraigned for financial misappropriation in the State’s school feeding programme.
The EFCC, in a statement signed by its Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, said Abdullahi siphoned N429,000.
Investigations carried out by the EFCC indicated that a certain Hassi Abdullahi who was appointed one of the chefs in the Home Grown School Feeding Programme (HGSFP) and had a Union Bank account number; 0077129142, died on March 18, 2019.
However, funds were still being transferred into her account from the HGSFP bursary, totaling N429,000, which was fraudulently withdrawn by the Education Secretary.
Abdullahi, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge with the defence counsel, Ibrahim Abdullahi, urging the court to grant Ishaka Abdullahi bail.
Presiding Judge of the court, Justice Malami Umar Dogondaji, granted him bail and adjourned the adjourned the case till October 12, 2020, for the commencement of trial.
