EFCC NABS 16 SUSPECTED INTERNET FRAUDSTERS IN OGUN, LAGOS

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Wednesday, June 17, arrested 16 suspected internet fraudsters in Ota, Ogun State, and Victoria Island, Lagos.


According to the Commission, operatives of the EFCC, Lagos Zonal Office, in a raid aimed at stamping out cybercrime in the country, arrested the fraudsters, otherwise known as “yahoo boys” in the areas. 


“The suspected internet fraudsters arrested during the raid in Ota, Ogun State were Adeshina Michael, Ayeni Emiloju, Odenigbo Anthony, Afolabi Gbenga, and Oyibogbola David Seun.


Those arrested in Victoria Island, Lagos were Onothebor Edmond; Suuru Blessing; Ifedapo Opeyemi; Samson Samuel, Oguntade Idowu, and Emmanuel Akinyemi. Others were Seyi Kazeem, Sulaiman Toheed, Oduwale Oluwasesan, Adewoye Oluwasesan, and Alex Abiodun”, the agency disclosed.


EFCC said the arrest was carried out following human intelligence reports received about the alleged involvement of the culprits in internet fraud.

The Operatives recovered different brands of cars allegedly acquired from the proceeds of fraudulent activities by the fraudsters.


It added that the offenders would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
