#ENDSARS: HOODLUMS ATTACK PRISON, FREE PRISONERS IN BENIN

Armed hoodlums, in the guise of #ENDSARS protesters, have broken into the Nigerian prison located on Sapele Road, Benin City, Edo State during the protest.


In a video captured online, the hoodlums were seen invading the Benin Medium security prison and freeing some inmates.


Three police stations were reportedly set ablaze by the hoodlums.


The affected stations are: Ugbekun, Oba Market and Idogbo Police Stations.


The Special Adviser to Governor Godwin Obaseki on Media, Crusoe Osagie, also confirmed the incident.


Osagie said the hoodlums exchanged fire with the security personnel at the Maximum security prison in Oko, Benin City.


Confirming the incident, the Nigeria Police claimed that hoodlums carted away arms and ammunition from the armoury and freed the suspects in custody before setting some of the facilities ablaze.


The police said it is doing everything to bring the situation under control, protect lives of innocent citizens and prevent further attacks on any other critical infrastructure in the State.


The Force urged parents and guardians to warn their children/wards to desist from any act of violence under any guise across the State.
