ENDSARS: LAGOS JUDICIAL PANEL AWARDS 10 MILLION NAIRA EACH TO TWO VICTIMS OF POLICE BRUTALITY

The Lagos State Judicial Panel has awarded N10 million each to two victims of police brutality.

The recipients of the awards Adebayo Abayomi and Hannah Olugbodi were compensated on Friday, February 19 based on the panel’s recommendation. 

 

Recall the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Restitution and Inquiry was set up last year to investigate cases of police brutality especially involving officers of the now-defunct Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) following widespread protests.

Eons Intelligence gathered that Adebayo Abayomi was compensated for the extrajudicial killing of his mother while Hannah Olugbodi got compensated for being extrajudicially shot by police officers. 

Justice Doris Okuwobi (retd.), the chairperson of the judicial panel in her recommendation, noted that erring officers who committed these abuses are to be sanctioned.
