FG SUSPENDS FLIGHT THAT CONVEYED NAIRA MALEY TO ABUJA
The flight that conveyed the Nigerian hip-hop artiste, Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has been suspended from operation.
Hadi Sirika, the Minister of Aviation made this known while speaking during the COVID-19 briefing in Abuja on Monday, June 15, 2020.
Hadi Sirika said that the flight that conveyed the Musician to Abuja was approved for a different purpose.
According to Sirika, the flight was assigned to convey a service judge, considered as “judiciary essential service” from Lagos to Abuja and back, on official assignment.
The Minister identified the flight operator to be ExecuJet.
According to him, ExecuJet provided false information and used approval granted for an illegal flight operation to convey a musician to Abuja (for an illegal concert).
The Minister said the flight operator violated the purpose of the operation and is hereby suspended indefinitely and will be fined.
“Going forward we will escalate the mechanisms we have in place, and we will be stricter in our approvals (and enforcement),” the Minister said.
He added that the Flight Captain will also be sanctioned for providing false information.
