OVER 100 KIDNAPPED PERSONS REGAIN FREEDOM IN KATSINA
Over 100 people kidnapped by bandits in Katsina State have regained freedom.
Governor Aminu Masari on Thursday told newsmen the kidnapped persons were rescued through the collective efforts of the Katsina State Government, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, the Nigerian Police, the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Air Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies in the state.
Of the 104 people rescued, 16 came from Sabuwa, Faskari and Dandume areas, 10 were from Danmusa, and 77 people came from Batsari and Jibia, Governor Masari disclosed.
The Governor said this on Thursday after receiving 77 rescued persons at the Katsina Government House.
Governor Masari said the rescue of the kidnapped persons was in continuation of a recent exercise which started with the rescue of 344 students of the Government Science Secondary School in Kankara who were abducted by bandits.
“We saw an opener and we are working with the leadership of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association in cooperation with the police, the army, the DSS, the air force, and other security agencies to bring back as many of the kidnapped victims as possible.
“The process is ongoing, we are doing this as quietly as we can to make sure that nobody is harmed and further kidnapping is stopped,” Masari said.
Recall that over 300 kidnapped schoolboys were rescued 6 days after they were abducted from their dorms on Friday, December 17.
