Fire Ravages Masaka Market, Traders Count Heavy Losses
A fire outbreak at Masaka Market in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State has left numerous traders grappling with significant losses.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fire began around 10 PM on Friday, devastating large sections of the market. As of the time of this report, there was no presence of fire service officials to contain the blaze, with parts of the market still engulfed in flames.
This is the second major fire incident to affect the market in recent years, the last occurring in 2019.
Videos obtained captured scenes of distressed traders lamenting their losses, while scavengers combed through the ruins in search of valuables.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, affected traders have called on the government to intervene and provide support to help them recover from their losses.
