GOVERNOR YAHAYA BELLO LIFTS LOCKDOWN, INSISTS KOGI IS COVID-19 FREE

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has lifted the lockdown earlier imposed on Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area over COVID-19 scare.

Governor Bello earlier imposed a two-week lockdown on June 1 as a “proactive” measure after the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control’s announcement that another COVID-19 case was recorded in the LGA.

While speaking at the Government House in Lokoja today, Governor Bello said he is lifting the lockdown because all the tests carried out by the health workers in the local government came back negative.

The Governor thereby restated that Kogi is COVID-19 free.

Recall that Kogi government had accused NCDC of ascribing “fictitious confirmed cases of Covid-19” to its State.

According to NCDC, Kogi State now has three confirmed cases of COVID-19 within its territory- a claim the government vehemently denies.
