Reports indicate that gunmen have attacked the Anambra State Vigilante office at Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the State.

Ikenga Tochukwu, the State’s Police PRO, confirmed the incident to newsmen.

He said the gunmen invaded the office around 7pm on Sunday in a Toyota Sienna car and motorcycles and shot sporadically.

“The hoodlums who came with a Toyota Sienna vehicle and motorcycles started shooting sporadically.

“Unfortunately two yet unidentified persons sustained gunshot injury,” Tochukwu said.

The Ozubulu police station in Anambra was also attacked by the gunmen but security operatives foiled the attack.

It was gathered that no police officer sustained an injury during the attack on the police station and the police building is secure and safe.

There have been unprecedented attacks on police formations, checkpoints, and correctional facilities in the South-Eastern part of Nigeria recently. It is pertinent for authorities to investigate the root cause of these attacks and arrest the perpetrators of these nefarious activities.

On Friday, Eons Intelligence reported that gunmen launched deadly attacks on Nnobi, Nneokwa and Ichida police stations in Anambra.

Also, on Thursday May 6, hoodlums attacked two police stations in Idemili North LGA of Anambra, killing two Police Inspectors and setting the facilities ablaze in the process.
