GUNMEN KIDNAP MONARCH IN EKITI STATE
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted the Obadu of Ilemeso Ekiti in Ekiti State, Oba David Oyewumi.
The abductors, numbering about six, scaled the fence of the Palace on Thursday evening, got into the premises, shot sporadically to create tension, and whisked the Traditional ruler away.
Ilemeso, a community in Oye LGA of Ekiti, has a track record of kidnappings in recent months.
This comes barely one week after the Elewu of Ewu, in Ilemeje Local Government of Ekiti State, Oba Adetutu Ajayi escaped an attack from kidnappers.
Confirming the incident, the Ekiti State Police PRO, Mr. Sunday Abutu, said security operatives are doing everything possible to rescue the Monarch and apprehend the gunmen.
As of the time of filing this report, nothing has been heard from the kidnappers.
