IGP ASSURES OF NPF COMMITMENT TO SECURITY DURING ANAMBRA ELECTIONS

Inspector General of Police,(IGP) Usman Alkali Baba has assured the Nigerians of the commitment of the Force to securing the public space and upholding the democratic values ahead of the November 6th Gubernatorial election in Anambra State. 


The IGP gave the assurance yesterday at a strategic meeting held with Commanders of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadrons at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. 


The meeting was part of concerted efforts to specifically contain the activities of criminal elements in the South-East and to guarantee a safe and secure environment for the forthcoming elections.


The IGP hinted that the Force has commenced the reforms of the unit to accomplish the task of effectively and efficiently confronting violent crimes in the country.


He charged the Squadron Commanders to "Upscale your supervisory roles to ensure your personnel demonstrate high level of professionalism, firmness, courage and respect for human rights while carrying out their duties".  


The IGP also stated that the Force will soon begin the implementation of a national security action plan to re-direct the internal security dynamics of the country in addition to securing the electoral processes in the Anambra State Gubernatorial elections.


The Police Chief also reiterated the Force's will to combat all forms of criminality and violent crimes including banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism and violent extremism, amongst others, across the country. 


He further pleaded with all stake holders and members of the general public to liaise with the Nigerian Police from time to in a bid to secure the country and ensure a conducive society where businesses and other endeavours thrive.
