IGP THROWS WEIGHT BEHIND ACTIVISM AGAINST WOMEN, GENDER VIOLENCE

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, on Thursday, December 8, 2022, hosted the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Dame Pauline Kedem Tallen, OFR, KSG, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, as part of the activities to mark the 16 days of activism against Gender-based violence and violence against children which commenced on the 26th of November, 2022 and would run until 10th of December, 2022.

The IGP emphasized the need for all structures in the criminal justice system of the country to synergize to stamp out all forms of violence against all genders, particularly women and children, who are mostly victims of violent acts perpetrated through the criminal conduct of others.


The Minister commended the IGP for his love and support towards women and children which have been evident in salient policies and actions of the Nigeria Police Force under his leadership.

The Colour me Orange team who accompanied the Honourable Minister joined her in decorating the IGP as an Orange Ambassador in the cause against gender-based violence.


The IGP equally re-emphasized the establishment of gender desks across the country and assured that the Police would not treat cases of gender-based violence with levity under his watch.
