INSECURITY: NAVY HOST CNS END OF YEAR SOCCER TOURNAMENT IN BAGA, BORNO STATE

The elusive peace and tranquillity which were once the hallmark of the North Eastern part of the country seem to be returning gradually. This is evident in the slow but certain return of normalcy to the war-ridden areas, especially in Borno State.

Apart from the opening of some markets and other social gatherings spots which were shut months ago, due to activities of bandits and terrorists, Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo, weekend, donated prizes and trophies to deserving individuals and teams during the final match of the CNS End of Year Baga Youth Football Competition, which held at the Baga Township Playground in Kukawa Local Government Area, of Borno State.

Admiral Gambo was represented by Rear Admiral Suleiman Garba, the Navy Secretary. Je also commissioned a borehole water supply project which he donated to the Baga Community as part of Civil Military Co-operation in the area.

Earlier on, the delegation, which consisted of Senior Officers from the Naval Headquarters, assessed the Fish Dam in Baga, with a view to reconstructing it, even as normalcy gradually returns to Baga and other communities.
