IPOB: PANIC AS POLICE, ARMY TAKE OVER IMO AHEAD OF SIT-AT-HOME ORDER
Tension grips residents of Imo as operatives of the Nigeria Police, army and other security agencies have started patrolling all areas in Owerri, the State capital, ahead of the October 1 Sit-At-Home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The security operatives took to the streets of Owerri in what the State Police command called “operation Show of Force”.
Recall the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had declared October 1st, Nigeria’s Independent day, as a Sit-At-Home across the Southern region to strengthen its fight for an independent state.

The Biafra group, founded by Nnamdi Kanu, also claimed that there is credible intelligence that terrorist groups are planning to slaughter easterners who intend to go out to celebrate Independence Day.
The Police spokesman, Orlando Ikeokwu, who confirmed the development to The Punch, assured residents of the State that there is no cause for alarm.
Ikeokwu claimed that the operation Show of Force was mobilized to reassure residents of the State that the Police in conjunction with other security agencies were capable of protecting them.

The Force spokesman said: “There is no cause for the alarm. The patrol is called Operation Show of Force. It shows that we are still in the business of protecting lives and properties. We are doing it in collaboration with other security agencies and it is taking place in all the ten area commands in the State.
“It is in response to the Sit-At-Home order declared by IPOB. We are assuring the members of the public that we are capable of protecting them and that they can go about without molestation and enjoy the October 1 public holiday as declared by the federal Government.”
