KOGI PROCURES 5,000 COVID-19 TEST KITS
Kogi State Government has acquired 5,000 COVID-19 test kits and conducted over 100 tests, Dr Saka Audu Haruna, the Commissioner for Health said.
Dr Haruna disclosed this during a practical demonstration of some of the test kits before Journalists in Lokoja.
According to the Health Commissioner, the acquired test kits are of international standards and are designed to get accurate results with minimum errors and at no cost.
The Commissioner dispelled rumours about the administration's lack of readiness to tackle the Coronavirus pandemic in the state.
He added that Kogi State is expecting the second batch of the COVID-19 testing kits and assured residents that it cares about their wellbeing.
Kogi State, alongside Cross River State, has not recorded any case of COVID-19.
Earlier, The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) urged the Federal Government to direct, through the Presidential Task Force (PTF), an investigation into the coronavirus-free status of Kogi and Cross Rivers States.
Speaking further, Saka said one hundred and eleven persons has been successfully tested with the kits, and all came out negative.
Dr Saka noted that the silence maintained so far was basically to reduce panic and allow the people to carry out their economic lives which is also very important for their survival.
