LAGOS DISTRIBUTES 100 HAND WASHING FACILITIES
As part of the efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus, the Lagos State Government, on Wednesday, June 1, distributed 100 units of hand washing facilities across the Local Government and Local Council Development Areas of the State.
Obafemi Hamzat, Deputy Governor of the State, while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the facilities, said the initiative was executed with the joint efforts of Procter and Gamble Nigeria, adding that it will intensify the existing measures put in place by the State Government to handle the infection.
According to him, among existing measures put in place by the State Government, were; establishment of various isolation centres for the treatment of COVID-19 cases, the initial state-wide lockdown, as well as the various ongoing campaigns on how Lagosians could protect themselves from being infected.
The Deputy Governor urged residents of the State to adhere to all preventive and safety measures imposed by the Government to avoid further infections.
Present at the inauguration ceremony was the Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Aderemi Adebowale, who clarified that the handwashing stations were in three variants.

“Type A has a mounted water tank and will service areas where there are no reticulated water source; Type B will be installed where there is a reticulated water source that can be connected directly at public places so that members of the public can have access to water and dispensable soap to wash their hands,” she said.
Eons Intelligence had earlier reported that the State Government unveiled an ultra-modern 150-bed Isolation Centre at the Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba,, which was built & donated by Private Sector Coalition against COVID-19.
As of July 1st, 2020, according to the NCDC, Lagos State has recorded 10,630 cases of COVID-19.
Of the 10,630 cases, 8,891 are active and are on admission, 1,610 discharges have been made, and 129 deaths have been recorded.
